We are proud to announce that EST Clinic Collins Street has partnered with Sustainable Salons as the first
certified Asian Cosmetic Clinic in Australia.
In recent years, sustainability has become more and more popular. To support the sustainable development, protect the environment and help the community, Dr Frank Lin in conjunction with the EST Clinic team have
partnered with Sustainable Salons.
Lead by Specialist Surgeons, EST Clinic is not only a cosmetic clinic, but also a community business. We believe that “beauty is an attitude, and we are responsible for our people and society”. EST Clinic and Sustainable Salons share the same vision.
Why did EST Clinic choose to become a Sustainable Clinic?
Our clinic has many clients who visit daily, and we therefore use vast amounts of disposables and clinical waste. Majority of the waste could not previously be recycled; however, the Sustainable Salons recycling program provides a solution to recycle more of the clinical waste used.
Sustainable Salons was established in 2015 by an Amsterdam hairdresser Paul and a sustainable fashion guru Ewelina. When they travelled to Australia, they found that every year salons sent a total of 1 million kilograms of recyclable waste to landfill. This is how they started their recycling program. They provide their sustainable services to hair salons, beauty salons, pet grooming salons and dermal clinics and now have over 1,000
members across Australia and New Zealand as part of the journey to zero waste.
What changes have we made since becoming a Sustainable Salon?
Recycle more clinical waste.
Other than the sharps bin which we previously used, Sustainable Salons provides bio-graded cleaning products, recycled tissue, recycled tin foil, bio-degradable towels, bio- degradable gloves etc. Sustainable Salons upcycle salon waste into coffee cups, dog leash holder, glasses, and outdoor furniture.
The collection of sharps
Sustainable Salons has a “Sharps Collection” program that prevents sharps being sent to dump sites
and could potentially cause injury.
Provide purposeful jobs for people with a disability.
The Sustainable Salons warehouse in Sydney has provided employment for disability staff. EST Clinic is a firm believer of equality and equal opportunity which aligns with our core values.
Donations to OzHarvest and KiwiHarvest
All aluminium, foil, colour tubes, cardboard, paper, magazines, razor blades, unwanted tools and select disposables are sold for recycling and the proceeds are donated to OzHarvest and KiwiHarvest. Our clinic will collect and recycle everything possible and will encourage our clients to do so as well.
