How does it work?

Our expert doctors and registered nurses inject a stabilised version of this substance under the skin to add volume, correct deficiencies and wrinkles or add hydration. When injected under the skin, dermal fillers attract water and over the next few days may swell slightly. This produces a re-volumising and lifting effect. Over time, dermal filler is broken down naturally by the body.

FAQs

What’s the different between Anti-wrinkle injection & Dermal filler?

Treatment Function
Anti-wrinkle injections prevent muscle contraction whereas dermal filler replaces lost volume. Anti-wrinkle injections are used to help prevent new wrinkles and to reduce the appearance of old or emerging wrinkles. Dermal fillers are used to fill out depressed areas of the face, plump up cheeks or lips, and rejuvenate the skin.

Treatment Area
Both anti-wrinkle injection and dermal fillers are injected underneath specific layers of skin, with each product designed uniquely for a certain set of tasks.

Longevity
Neither anti-wrinkle injections nor dermal filler are permanent - both are reabsorbed over time. Dermal fillers may last between 6-12 months depending on the characteristics of the filler product and the area of the body where it is used.
Where is it most commonly used?

  • Lips – for volume enhancement and also to treat fine lines around the lips.
  • Cheeks and nasolabial folds – these aim to reduce the depth of the creases and wrinkles in the area.
  • Around the eyes – particularly the “tear trough” area.
  • Nose and chin – subtle reshaping of these areas.
  • Brow – subtle reshaping and lifting.

While many areas may benefit from this treatment, we believe that facial rejuvenation with fillers should provide a subtle and natural improvement. Often, they can be used in conjunction with other surgical and non-surgical treatments to achieve the best possible result.
Are there any side effects?

All treatments carry the potential of unwanted effects.
  • Dr Frank Lin generally recommends and uses non-permanent fillers.
  • There may be some mild redness, swelling and discomfort after treatment.
  • Uncommonly, there can be lumpiness and other cosmetic concerns. Infections and other more serious complications are rare. It is important to undertake a thorough medical and aesthetic assessment with an EST Clinic specialist doctor prior to having any injectable or aesthetic treatment.
