Skin Discolouration

Why am I seeing dark patches of skin on my face?

Hyperpigmentation is a common condition in which patches of skin become darker in colour than the surrounding skin. These dark patches are a result of excess melanin, the pigment that produces normal skin colour. Melasma describes patches of hyperpigmentation that appear most often as a result of hormonal changes. Hyperpigmentation can affect people of all ethnic backgrounds.
