What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive exfoliating treatment that utilises abrasive crystal exfoliation in conjunction with vacuum pressure to gently remove the dead outer skin layers, resulting in smoother and fresher-looking skin.
Depending on the area being treated, microdermabrasion can take as little as 15 minutes to perform, with visible results after one treatment.
Microdermabrasion is used to address a number of common skin complications, including:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Rough and uneven texture
- Superficial hyperpigmentation
- Mild acne scars
- Enlarged pores
Microdermabrasion can stimulate circulation and blood flow, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin. Improvements evident after a series of microdermabrasion treatments include:
Increased skin suppleness and softness
Less obvious pores
Reduction in congestion, assisting in a reduction of breakouts
Reduction in fine lines
Improved barrier function
More even skin tone.
While some conventional microdermabrasion devices can cause redness and discomfort due to unpredictable abrasion, the DermaPod Turbo Flow System used at Eastern Skin Therapy resolves these problems by generating a circular, vortex-like motion of the crystals. This results in a perfectly safe, controlled and even abrasion that can be used to treat sensitive areas.
